Learn why the show telling Tina’s life story is simply the best and plan your Tina: The Tina Turner Musical London trip
From Nutbush, Tennessee to becoming a record-breaking, world-famous artist, Tina Turner’s journey is astonishing. This West End musical sensation captures all the dramatic highs and lows as she rises to fame with husband Ike Turner and then battles to escape an abusive marriage and reinvent herself as a rock star.
Along the way, we’re treated to some of the singer’s incredible back catalogue of hits, from A Fool in Love and Let’s Stay Together to the Phil Spector-produced River Deep Mountain High, the indelible Proud Mary, and through to Private Dancer, What’s Love Got to Do with It, We Don’t Need Another Hero, and finally The Best.
It’s an unbeatable combination of story and music, reminding us of just how tough the music industry can be – especially for a woman of colour – and then inviting us to share in the triumph of Turner’s comeback and enduring legacy. She really is our hero.

It’s a daunting challenge to inhabit one of the greatest performers of all time, but we’ve seen several mega-talented actresses do just that in Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, in the West End and on Broadway. Adrienne Warren won a Tony Award for originating the lead role of Tina Turner.
Currently that starring role in the London production is shared by two phenomenal talents: Karis Anderson (previously Diana Ross in Motown) and Elesha Paul Moses (a former music industry star who appeared on The Voice). They’re joined by Okezie Morro (Moon on a Rainbow Shawl at the National Theatre) as Ike Turner.
Tina has a script written by the Pulitzer-winning and Tony-nominated Katori Hall (The Mountaintop), along with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins, and the show is directed by the legendary Bafta-nominated Phyllida Lloyd (Mamma Mia!, The Iron Lady), with choreography by Anthony Van Laast (Mamma Mia!, Sister Act).

“The evening is bookended by a 1988 concert in Brazil: our indomitable heroine rewards her fans (and us) with a full lights-blazing, full lungs-bursting rendition of Simply the Best. It’s the perfect climax.” Read the full Telegraph review.
Yes! It got the full five stars from The Telegraph’s theatre critic, who marvels at this “slickly choreographed, beautifully designed and roof-raisingly well-sung bio-musical”. It has also had the seal of approval from Tina Turner herself, as well as the legions of fans who have flocked to see it since it opened in 2018.
The show is a faithful telling of Tina Turner’s extraordinary life and career, some of which has only recently become public knowledge. It’s a glimpse behind the scenes at how this inspirational woman reclaimed her power following her marriage to the controlling Ike Turner, and how she broke through barriers to redefine rock ‘n’ roll.
The original West End star of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, Adrienne Warren, went with the show to Broadway when it opened there.
